Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield in the Studio
50 years ago today, on the 22nd there was anticipated album and caught by any music enthusiast was released. Reading up on this album, it went to number 12 on the charts. This album gave was to the word "supergroup" that we all use when a group of well known people do an album together.
What turned out to be a two day session with Bloomfield and Kooper and some great session musicians turned out to be one day of Bloomfield and one day with Stephen Stills. How does this happen? Bloomfield never showed up for day two. Unclear on how that happen, but none the less, it turned out to be a great album anyway.

Being a fan of most everybody on the album you can hear the contrast of the soulful Blues of Bloomfield and "Classic Rock" tone of the side two piece like "Season of the Witch" that still blows my mind to this day as it did back when I had a cassette copy of this at the age of sixteen. Just wish I was another fly on the wall for both sessions to really catch that lightning in a bottle feel. If your looking for an album that really, really starts the "Supergroup" ball rolling in Rock and Roll this is the album for you. After all it's over you will, like me, shake your head on how great they all played. Also like me, you will totally dig Mike Bloomfield even more.
